The Big-D Idaho Falls office began, in earnest, in 2013 when a project construction team with ties to Eastern Idaho was relocated to Rexburg, Idaho to manage the construction of the Central Energy Facility project at BYU-Idaho. Company leadership then discovered there were other employees from Eastern Idaho eager to pursue more work locally. In turn, Big-D encouraged their eagerness and desire to establish a presence throughout Eastern Idaho. That presence continued to grow until Big-D officially opened a regional office in Idaho Falls in 2018.
Big-D Idaho Falls is proud to offers clients the ability to work directly with a local contractor who can devote a higher level of attention to projects, typical of a smaller contractor, but who is also backed by the significant resources of a much larger firm. While the roots of Big-D Construction are ever-expanding, our Idaho Falls office takes a community-centered approach to our work. The Big-D Lindon office opened in 2005 with the focus to increase Big-D’s presence in Utah County. The Lindon office constructs a wide range of project types annually, with key market sectors being commercial buildings, higher education facilities, multi-family housing, industrial, and mining projects. Big-D Lindon is a fully self-sufficient office, able to offer comprehensive Preconstruction and Construction services, and is staffed with a Preconstruction Director, a team of estimators, and a variety of market-specific construction team members.
Building and maintaining local client relationships has always been the driving factor for the Lindon office but being local for their employees who appreciate working on projects close to home and minimizing long commutes is equally as important. Big-D Construction was founded in 1967 in Ogden. It was our original home, first headquarters, and where it all started. The Ogden office is where our company culture and core values were forged and where Big Dee and his founding leaders built a company based on equal respect for customers and employees. Swire Coca-Cola’s built a new 147,125-sf warehouse addition to the existing Swire Coca-Cola Glendale Distribution Facility. The site totals 270,950-sf over 8.5 acres. Project duration was 10 months; KDF Architects was the design partner on this project. Sitework included demolition of existing conditions, earthwork, SWPPP, new and relocated wet/dry utilities, drywell rework, site concrete, asphalt paving, pavement markings and signage, masonry fencing, stucco, landscaping. Building included demolition, concrete foundation and floor systems; tilt panel concrete exterior walls; structural steel roof joist and metal deck framing; roofing; skylights; exterior painting; interior insulated metal wall panels; (2) small restroom build-outs; doors, frames, hardware; overhead doors, chain link fence; dock equipment; Plumbing, Fire Protection, HVAC and Electrical systems; Fire Alarm.

Swire Coca-Cola Warehouse Expansion

In 2017, Big-D began renovating a 25,000-sf warehouse facility for Bubbies in Phoenix, Arizona. The scope of the project included a new quality control lab, a new bakery, processing, preparation, temper and packaging rooms (that are temperature controlled), new staff lockers and restrooms. This facility also includes existing freezers and coolers that were modified and brought to code during the renovation. The processing systems are fully automated so that now the ice cream is mixed and automatically dumped into the freezer, then frozen and pumped to the dough encrusters. From there, it is dusted before feeding onto the nitrogen freeze tunnel conveyor for final freezing, scanned and put into cartons and packaged for shipment.
&nbsp;
The Bubbies project also includes exterior modifications including upsized electrical and water services, parking lot and fencing/gate upgrades. A second phase is anticipated to add a cold dock to the facility, closed loop chilled water system, site beautification package, site lighting, additional boilers, rice cookers, ice cream freezer machines, encrusters/dusters and a packaging automation system.
